CDO: Incredible Finds Inside the Museum (You Shoud See this, too!)

A year ago, just one week after I relocate in Cagayan de Oro, I’ve been wanting to visit museums because I know it would be the quickest and most reliable way to learn about the city. I’ve learned few facts though through Google but my desire to transport myself back to the past through visual learning was just so strong I badly need to visit one...

...and when I finally got the opportunity to go on a museum tour, I was in all honesty awed with some historically significant finds which you should see for yourself, too.

Upon entering the museum, you will be greeted with a wide painting splayed on the wall. I guess this serves as guide to the lobby area and the gallery. So when I followed the way, my attention was instantly caught with this ‘painting’ captioned as: not a free wall, but a work of art.

I know there are lots of incredible paintings out there, still, I am mesmerized whenever I see one that would really draw me into it. Maybe it matters on how you interpret or associate art with your emotions.

Aside from this artwork, what you can see inside the gallery are artifacts collected from different places in Mindanao, Contours of Okir Tradition, and more artworks of CU students. - Photos above

The museum is divided into three galleries: History; Ethnology of Mindanao; and Fr Francisco R Demetrios SJ, the first curator of the museum. This place is very likely when you’re on a mission to know who are the Kagay-anons involved during the war, how natives are converted to Christianity, and anything about Cagayan de Misamis (old name of Cagayan de Oro), among others. But do you know what lingered to me the most? It’s the evolution of technology and how the city is keeping up to change, especially this:

My every visit was surely a bit longer given all the readings and admiration. *hehe* Anyway, although I have only been to two museums by far I did have a good time travelling back to the years I wasn’t born yet. I was indeed lost in the moment.
